The Data Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, who simply refers to himself as Ansem along with all other characters who encounter him, makes his debut appearance as an antagonist in Kingdom Hearts DE:coded. Innitially created by Maleficent as a sort of "virus" to help spread darkness throughout Jiminy's Journal and to test the strength of the Data Riku, the Data Ansem encountered the Data Riku several times, the two eventually coming face-to-face in a climatic battle. The Data Riku proved stronger in the end, however, the Data Ansem destroyed.
